Waka di Uma - worth the extra $s?

WE have a choice between Waka di Uma and the new villas at Tegal Sari but Waka is $100 more a night - a little steep so we%26#39;re wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this. It%26#39;s our first trip to Bali and wanted to have a special experience but $150 was our max per night...should we splurge?

Waka di Uma - worth the extra $s?

We last stayed at Waka di Uma in 2001 so my personal advice is a little old, but relatives stayed there 3 years ago and were concerned by night time visitors in their room at night, the short haired variety. My view was that it was overpriced and a bit far out to walk in and out of town. They have a shuttle which was ok going into town for dinner but a nuisance for the return trip as you had to fit their hourly schedule and they only dropped and picked up in one spot near the palace. Also owned by large company in Java.

Tegal Sari is better value and closer to things. They also will pick up and drop off anywhere in the area, you can get the restaurant to phone them for pick up. Owned by a Balinese family.

Regards,

David
