Currency conversion - best places? And recent AUD rate?

With the current financial climate changing so rapidly, can anyone advise the current exchange rates for AUD notes in Kuta or Legian at authorised money changers or hotels?

How do these compare to the rates on offer at the airport?

On previous visits I have mostly exchanged money at my hotel and then used ATMs. However the bank fees can be high.

Any other suggestions?

2 days ago the official money changer that can be found opposite Bintang supermarket and right next door to SIP wine bar in Seminyak the rate was 8,000 rupiah for 1 AUD - pretty good really.
