Sydney to Jakarta (overnight & change airline) to KL

If there is no onward connection available for the next leg of travel, and you have to overnight in Jakarta do you still have to pay the VOA? We are planning Qantas (FF points) to Jakarta and then Air Asia or Malaysian Airlines to KL.

Yes. You need VOA to clear from immigration regardless of yr length of stay.

Thanks, makes it an expensive way of going to Malaysia as the return trip would also require a valid VOA because we would have to collect baggage and re check in for the Qantas flight. Therefore would need VOA for 30 days - US25. Have to think about this one. May be go via Singapore!!
