sanur restaurants

Hi Kate,

Ming, Mossimo and Aladin for starters.

We didn%26#39;t have a bad meal anywhere last year. Hoping for the same in June when we go back.

Hi,

Check out Benno%26#39;s. It is at the front of Sindhu markets right next door to the massage tables.

Thanks

Colesy

We were there last week. Bonsai Cafe - up near Sindhu markets. Unreal pineapple juice and fresh food - recommend it!

The Peneeda View, next door to the Hyatt has a fantasticly located restaurant/bar right on the beach walkway. Try the chicken and cashew and the nasi goreng.

thanks for the recommendations I will check them out, Bonsai has previously been recommended so will definately be heading there for a meal.

Cheers,

Kate

I love Palay, on Jl Tamblingan, on the left if you are walking towards the Hyatt. It has great ';fusion'; style dishes, never been diappointed.

For a more unusual dining experience, we go to the Garage- it is an auto repair place by day and restaurant by night, on the bypass road at the end of the German Consul road- great cheap Indo food.

Here are some of my favorites in Sanur..

.

The Village - excellent Authentic Italian Restaurant in a lovely upmarket surrounding - at pretty reasonable mid range prices. (at the entrance of Griya Santrian hotel)

Kayu Manis 鈥?tucked down a little side street this small place is my favourite secret gem.. casual yet oozing with style this family owned and run place is fantastic for fabulous creative food at excellent prices.. and lovely complimentary extras鈥?apparently the owner Made has lived in NY and it shows. Recommend more than one visit! Jl Tandakan No.6, Shindu, Sanur ph 289410 (Little side st near the art market that runs through to the by pass)

Baturjimbar Cafe - (opposite Hardies supermarket) casual cafe dining - selection of both Western and Indonesian food - also good vegetarian options...and very yummy juices. If you pop down there on Sunday鈥檚 they have a mini farmers market and also a lot of Authentic Indonesian snacks and treats for sale (a safe way to try some authentic Indonesian street foods!) and Baturjimbar also has a special Indonesian traditional breakfast only available on weekends which is well worth a try.

Warung Pregina - Authentic Balinese foods and fresh seafood in a casual setting. (opposite Village Restaurant)

Coriander Restaurant - Offering both Thai and Western food - (near the Hyatt)

Mezzanine Restaurant - this restaurant serves a variety of foods - Japanese, western and thai - personally I think the setting is better than the food - but the setting is lovely!

Mossimo Italian Restaurant - the owner was the original chef at the Village and it%26#39;s very good! - His gelato Icecreams are the best in Bali! (he has a cabinet on the St) they also deliver鈥?

Lumut - selection of western, Indonesian and Japanese foods - my favourite is the coconut crusted prawn salad (yum!) Two story building Near Coriander Rest and the Hyatt

Beach Cafe - on the beach (north end) creative casual food.

Bonsai Cafe - on the beach (north end) excellent chicken sates for 30K and the burgers are good 鈥?but don鈥檛 rate the nasi goring

Six point Cafe - near McDonalds just before you reach the bypass bistro / caf茅 type fare, popular with expats and well heeled locals.

All these Restaurants are on the main Rd (Jalan Danau Tamblinghan unless otherwise stated) Have a great holiday! : )

Brigid - that list looks really helpful! Can you suggest what are good dishes to try at your favourite restaurants?

I can again highly recommend the Italian restaurant Massimo, the pasta is amazing, and so is the ice cream.

The Bonsai cafe is again very good.

The jazz bar %26amp; grill is very good, with live jazz every night from 9pm.

If you want a really good steak or european food, try the arena sports bar. Is not the most inviting place from the outside and maybe not the sort of place you would spend all evening at, but the food is excellent.

For local food we really liked the Apakabar, they do really good mixed platters for 2, so you can try many different balinese dishes.

The cat and fiddle is good we ate there for breakfast and dinner on more than one occasion.

I would also recommend going once to jimberan beach for seafood, the seaside cafe provides free transport, all of the restaurant along the beach have a great atmosphere.

Hope this helps.

Just returned from a fantastic 4th time in Sanur staying at the Griya for the 1st time. Sanur has a more up market feel to it since we were last here 3 years ago.

We we went to all of Brigid%26#39;s restaurant favorites above and did not go wrong with any one of them. Top of the list was her secret gem; KAYU MANIS. Went there four times! It serves top quality creative restaurant food at low Bali prices and should not be missed. The stuffed squid on herb risotto, the vietnamese spring roles and the tenderloin of beef with watsabi black peper sauce were outstanding. Only has 9 tables and the service was first class. Enjoy.

Thanks Brigid.

This thread looks like it has some good suggestions but is a little dated...

Does anyone have any other suggestions or updated reviews?
