bali trip short report

hi guys i was in bali last thursday for the first time. it was super hot. I%26#39;m from Kuala Lumpur, couldn%26#39;t stand the heat in bali. Apart from that, Bali was OK, quite enjoyable.

Always wanted to see Barong Dance, was good, but Legong dance at Ubud Palace was MAGICAL. Don%26#39;t miss it.

in Ubud, i stayed at Taman Harum Cottages. Beautiful garden, but to go to ubud centre, need about 10 minute drive, fortunately hotel offers free shuttle. To get back to hotel, I just call the hotel and request transport back. I also heard a guest getting free transport to Kuta!

Don%26#39;t laugh, but Ulu watu was a scary experience. I was afraid of the monkeys. (I%26#39;m a coward) I will certainly not bring any kid or baby to Ulu Watu. Was very beautiful though.

in Seminyak I stayed at Bali Agung. No noisy chinese or korean tour groups. Good ! About 10 minute walk to main street, 5 minute walk to beach. Good beds. Superb value for money!

I was surprised how cheap bali is, hotel, food, transport. No problem getting vegetarian or halal food. Beaches are filthy :\ People are nice and calm. Almost got cheated by money changer. Would I go there again? Hmmmmmm, maybe.. only during colder season. Go there for the waves, not the beaches.

Thanks for the brief report; nothing wrong with being scared of the monkeys, when some of the big ones start fighting between themselves with bared fangs it can get quite vicious. Always worth having a guide with you with a big stick!

During the wet season, all sorts of rubbish can wash up on some beaches, especially if there%26#39;s been a storm, but in the dry season the beaches are usually very clean, so bad luck about that.

great report. i feel the same about monkeys. i was cornered by a big male once in the monkey forest at ubud. the snarling fangs did nothing to enhance my opinion of them. i like them from a distance or when they are asleep.

The big male being a monkey right?

either that or was it reflection in a temple pool. what a difference a word or lack of a word makes.
