Bali Driver

Will be spending a week in Bali, based in Ubud, and want to engage a driver. There are dozens listed here on TA and so I would appreciate feedback from people who have used a driver in Bali. There will be 3 adults traveling so we%26#39;ll want a decent sized vehicle, such as a Kijang or larger. Key points for me are:

1. Safe driver.

1b. Condition of vehicle: maintenance, cleanliness.

2. Knowledge of the island (how to get around efficiently).

3. Knowledge of cultural attractions.

4. Knowledge of restaurants.

5. Non-smoker.

If the driver isn%26#39;t listed on TA could you please send contact information.

Also, would you please indicate nominal rates; I recently used a driver in Jakarta, but would expect that market to be totally different.

Thanks in advance!

Have been to Bali once and used a guy named Ketut Iga. I have put info on TA a few times about him .He covers all your questions above.Great funny guy.We are off to Bali in June and have all ready aranged his services. E-mail him , ketutiga@telkom.net Tell him Adam from perth sent you.

I just returned from Bali and would highly reccommend Putu Sudiana.

He is a very safe driver, car meets all your conditions (he also has backup vehicles).

I spent 2 days with him touring the island. He was very interested in pleasing and he did.

He would meet all your requirements.

Check his website listed in the Bali Driver list.

His rate as listed on his website was 400,000 RPH for a 10 hour day.

You can also contact him and he will pick you up at the airport and drive you to your hotel. The cost will be very reasonable.

Prior to going, I had searched these forums and he came very highly reccommended. I can understand why.

1. Yes. Patient and careful. Drives at modest speeds.

1b. New 2008 Suzuki APV minivan - has special tourism license that includes insurance to protect tourists from liability claims (a quirk of Indonesian law).

2. %26amp; 3. Yes, graduate of tourism college %26amp; licensed guide

4. Yes. Does not recommend tourist traps to get commissions.

5. Yes

About 500,000 Rp for ten hours.
