10 days indonesia trip: Jakarta - yes? no?

Hello,

I%26#39;m from KL, Malaysia %26amp; I%26#39;m planning to go on a vacation for 10 days in Indonesia.

We%26#39;re thinking of starting our journey from Yogya, Mt Bromo and travel our way down to Bali.

I%26#39;ve been to Bandung %26amp; Jakarta before, but only to shop.

Some of my friends haven%26#39;t been to Jakarta, and they are thinking whether or not we should include it in our itinerary, making Jakarta our first stop from KL.

As I%26#39;ve only been there solely for fabric-shopping, I%26#39;m just checking if anyone has any thoughts on that.

Cheers!

Liz

Well, the decision on going to Jakarta or not depends on your group; how they%26#39;re interested to visit the city, what they want to do (cultural sightseeing, shopping, city tour, etc). Especially with your previous experience visiting the city, at least you already have a little insight of what the city would look like.

I cannot comment much and promote the city (or give you 100 reasons why you should visit the city) to you as I%26#39;m not a salesman here... Plus, I can only give a suggestion and advice on concrete matters; not the general matters like this (you can read articles, tourism page, etc for your references). Besides, on what to expect from the city (especially the sightseeing), can be read from many articles on Tripadvisor:

We create these to answer general questions like this; if you got specific questions to ask, feel free to drop a line in the forum.

Hi Liz;

I think 10 days is very short. If you or your friends have never been to Yogja and Bali, 10 days may be rushy for them alone. :)

I would say no based upon time. The only caveat is that if your friends are Muslim, Jakarta offers some fantastic food (way better than Malaysia as a whole IMHO). I love Jakarta, but frankly that%26#39;s just to eat - otherwise, it can be a stretch to spend time except some limited shopping. :)
