Any advice on Alam Gili - Trawangan, Lombok

I have just booked my 14 night honeymoon at the Alam Gili from January 12th 2009! I was wondering if anyone has any tips for us for this hotel? I%26#39;d particularly be interested in hearing about the hotel costs for food and beauty treatments (massages etc).

We really want to get away and have a totally relaxing holiday - i think we%26#39;ve picked the right place!!

i hate to be an alarmist but are you talking about alam gili in ubud or an associate hotel in gili trawangan lombok.

these are two different locations and on different islands. i checked the web site using th hotel name and i was confused as to where you had actually booked to stay.

Any advice on Alam Gili - Trawangan, Lombok

Oh dear, am I on the wrong forum? I have booked to stay here - http://www.alamindahbali.com/alam_gili.htm

yes to a degree. u put it under the ubud forum but u would be better to repost under the gili trawangan, lombok forum. but luck is on your side. gili trawangan is excellent. it is very beautiful but it can get a noisy on three nights a week( party nights in some restaurany/bars) check with your hotel if the music is a long way away. no problems, i had a look at the web site u provided and the hotel is in the quiet north.

i%26#39;ve done a review on gili trawangan that u may like to see. click the link below.

ps how are you getting there?

Thank you for your reply!

Haven%26#39;t worked out our travel there yet, though I think we will fly to Lombok and get the boat to the island. What is the food like there? Have you any tips for us? I am very excited!

well firstly, think about the fast boat from padangbai in bali to gili trawangan. it is 1 200 000 rups return. it leaves in the morning and takes about two hours. some say it is a rough trip and it can be but the rough part is abpout 45 minutes of the trip in the deeper part of the strait between bali and lombok. i%26#39;ve caught it a few times and i get a little sea sick but i%26#39;m right once on land again. gili cat only takes about 18 people so it gets booked out so u may want to book earlier.

padangbai is about 1 hours drive from kuta/sanur. it is about 100 000 to 150 000 rups to hire a car/driver to take u from kuta/sanur to padangabai. if for some reason u can%26#39;t get to gili T on the day u want padangbai is a nice place to wait.

the food on gili T is excellent. on the south east and east end of the island are heaps of restaurants. the beaches are white and clean. snorkelling excellent but the currents are strong. there are two nearby islands that are very quiet but worth a day trip.

well seeing that u are on a honeymoon, i recommend to hire a local boat/sailor and cruise privately around the islands, take a picnic lunch, swim when u fel like it and bask in the sun.

coming from english winter take it easy in the sun - sunscreen, hat and if u get sunburnt aloe vera is a plant which is very soothing to pain and also prevents your skin peeling later, drink plenty of water.

there is no motorised transport on the island. a cimino is a sort of small horse and cart that is great but a little jarring on the bumps.

I would take the fast boat. It sounds like a good deal and probably safer than flying.

Hi, I stayed at Alam Gili in september and I%26#39;m going back next year too, it%26#39;s in a lovely quiet spot and the staff are charming. The food is good, but it%26#39;s not a posh resort so service can be slow, there are a few other places on the north part of trawangan within walking distance for a change of scene and food. Party central is about a 20 minute walk away and there are a lot of good places to eat there and parties some nights. You can get a horse drawn cart if you don%26#39;t fancy the walk. There were I think massages etc offered, but to be honest I didn%26#39;t pay much attention to that but I%26#39;m sure they can arrange what you want. It is a small property and relaxation is the key here. I hope you have a good time

You are so lucky to be staying in this wonderful, relaxing place on the quiet west end of Gili T. for 14 nights. I%26#39;m jealous. We spent only 3 nights in September 08 (because they were booked fully after that). We stayed in the beautiful Lumba, Lumba (means ';dolphin';) garden bungalow. It was incredible...very tropical decor and the bathroom shower has a garden on both sides and is open to the sky! The staff are supurb...the food delicious (you can dine right on the beach in front. Wonderful breakfasts (yum for the banana pancakes!) The pool is salt water and refreshingly cool in the shade. Oh!!! you must snorkle at least every day right out front. Breathtaking, the fish, the coral. Advice: Be sure to bring water shoes with you as the water out front is almost all coral. Snorkle at high tide is best. Don%26#39;t miss sunset every night and experience at least one sunrise...on the same beach out front. Food at Alam Gili is very reasonable As far as massages, just ask the front desk and they will arrange it. Explore the busy town...lots of bars and restaurants, music. I could tell so much more...yes, you definitly picked the right place! Relax and have fun!

I thing Yogyakarta city is the one plase you need.see yogyakarta at http://javatrips.blogspot.com/

trush me it is wonderfull plase

Did you all bring your own snorkel gear or is it available to rent? I%26#39;m thinking of staying at the Alam Trawangan also...
