Advice on Bali Hyatt & Bali excursions....

Hello Trip Advisors

I%26#39;ll be staying at Bali Hyatt in June %26amp; have read some good reviews on it, but does any one know if the beach at Bali Hyatt is private or not? %26amp; is it worth me taking my snorkeling bits?

I see on the map Lembongan island is quite close, is it worth taking a trip there? What is over there?

When I%26#39;m in Bali I%26#39;d like to go see the rice fields and temples, I read that Tirta Gangga is beautiful for that, can anyone advise how long it takes to get there from Bali Hyatt %26amp; what method of transport would be best?

Also can anyone recommend any Spa%26#39;s in town in Sanur as I hear that Spa inside Hyatt is not cheap.

Look forward to your recommendations %26amp; Thanks very much in advance!

Regards

Tracy

Advice on Bali Hyatt %26amp; Bali excursions....

While the Bali Hyatt and all the beachside resorts like to maintain that their beaches belong to them, that is not really the case, the beach belongs to everyone.

As for snorkelling, you can go out to the reef which acts as a surf break for the beach at Sanur, or there is some great snorkelling off Lembongan Island. If you enjoy snorkelling a day trip to Lembongan would be a good addition to your itinery.

Tirta Gangga is beautiful and is about an hour and half to 2 hours from Sanur and you would be best to hire a driver for the day. That way you could also visit the Temple at Tanah Lot and some rice terraces. There are some surrounding Ubud or along the road to Agung Volcano, both aren%26#39;t too far if you are going to Tirta Gangga.

I use Mandurah Spa in Sanur, their prices are very good and the service they provide is great.

Thanks very much for you help really appreciate it!

Lembongan is about a 30-40 min boat journey from Benoa Harbour, just south of Sanur. Worth a look for the snorkelling and you can do a day trip.

If you%26#39;re wanting a cheap and cheerful spa, check out AB Massage on the ground floor of Hardy%26#39;s Department Store. You can get an excellent 1 hour Thai foot massage for 35000Rp.

as whinnie said the beach at the hyatt is not %26#39;private%26#39;. they do however spend hours each morning raking the sand and setting up the sun loungers and keeping the beach front clean and maintained. the area of beach which stretches the length of the hyatt%26#39;s boundary is %26#39;private%26#39; as far as the loungers are for guests use and the locals are not to offer goods and services to guests except for a couple or %26#39;authorized%26#39; vendors who are only allowed to approach you once. any holiday makers who wish to use the hyatt%26#39;s facilities have to ask and pay. the hotel is very good and i have had some great stays there. you have chosen a great hotel. yes the spa is expensive and i always go outside the hotel and choose a locally run place for what ever i want. there are some local ladies on the beach front as well who offer cheap massages and manicures. if you walk to your right and follow the paved foot path past the hyatt (when facing the beach) and walk for about 5 minutes there is a a few small warungs (locals selling goods). look for a sign saying ';Ida%26#39;s shop';. this lady does a good massage and nails at very low prices. her husband sells hand made wind chimes etc.

remember you can also use the hyatt shuttle bus and go to the grand hyatt at nusa dua and use the facilities there. the drive is scenic and takes about 30 minutes.

I recently stayed at the Bali Hyatt and enjoyed my stay.

I hired a car and driver to get me from the airport when I arrived and the for 2 days to see Bali. It is very reasonable (abt $40US for 10 hours).

I used Putu Sudiana and would reccommend him. He knows all the spots to see and will take you to what interests you. Most things are nat that far in Bali.

I used Putu due to reccommendations on this forum. His information can be found at
