First time Bali Trippers

Good day holiday trippers:

Me and my wife will be going to Bali this May, We will be staying in Novotel Benoa, as given to us as a gift from a friend. As this is quite the tip of the island. Could you kindly suggest any place for shopping. I know Bali is not really meant for shopping, but my wife%26#39;s thingy is just shopping. I hope the women on this forums could help me out. And how do we go about going to these shopping areas.

And lastly how late do these taxis travel at night and is it safe to travel even in the late hours back to Benoa?

Would appreciate your advise thanks.

';I know Bali is not really meant for shopping,';

Abetstone, your wife will be in heaven because Bali is a shopaholic%26#39;s paradise. Although coming from Manila, maybe not as much as for us from the Australia and the UK etc.

The place with probably the most variety in one area is Kuta. Just take a taxi from your hotel into Kuta. There you will find department stores (Matahari) and shopping centres (Discovery), countless shops and boutiques and the Kuta Markets.

Taxis run all night and you are perfectly safe travelling by taxi at any time of the day.

Thanks so much Whinnie for the info.

I%26#39;m sure my wife will enjoy it there since there are places to shop. Since we will be staying there for 5 days, where would you suggest we go for a day trip. My wife is not really into temples, but I%26#39;m quite sure there are some places worth seeing, would you suggest any that one has to go when you%26#39;re in Bali

thanks for your help!!

I would suggest Tanah Lot, it%26#39;s a temple with spectacular views, and it has shopping.

Also Ubud for art and culture, traditional dancing, beautiful views of rice terraces from great restaurants.

Another beautiful place to visit is Tirta Gangga, the royal water palace.

Lake Bratan and Kintamani Volcano as well.

These are just a few places. For more ideas go the the ';thnks to do'; tab on the left of the screen.

Thanks for the input. a lot of help...
