Nusa Dua Vs Jimbaran Bay

Hello everyone,

Need some expert advice on Bali!

Husband and I are planning to visit Bali in May. We have option of staying either in Nusa Dua or Jimbaran Bay.

Which is a better location?

Which has better beach?

accessibility to other attractionns?

proximity to restaurants

any other comments?

Thanks,

GS

Nusa Dua Vs Jimbaran Bay

Hi, it depends on your budget!! Nusa Dua is basically 5 star resorts all in a row - the shopping mall has closed down. The beaches are meant to be quite good. Jimbaren probably has more choice for accomodation and has great seafood. Can%26#39;t comment on the beaches though. There are alot of pushy salesmen in Kuta at present trying to get tourists down to Jimbarren to commit to time-share properties (we have just returned from Bali) Hope this helps!

Nusa Dua Vs Jimbaran Bay

Which shopping mall has closed?

We were told by our local travel guide that due to the economic downturn the main shopping area in the middle of the resorts had closed and they were seeking to get it up and running again soon.

i haven%26#39;t heard of the bali collection closing. how current is the information? some time back some of the shops did close but either changed hands, re opened and then sogo moved in and took over as the large %26#39;anchor%26#39; store. the supermarket has never closed and there were still plenty of restaurants, and assorted boutique shops.

tragia which is located on the bypass did close a long time back.

there are local restaurants in nusa dua in two main locations. near the main gate and at mengiat st. get a taxi for your first trip which only takes a few minutes then you will see the restaurants offer free transport to and from your hotel. gather a few business cards and you can call them to pick you up. also restaurants at tanjung benoa.

the beach at nusa dua is very nice. calm water and best for swimming at high tide. some very good hotels here. i prefer here to jimbaran but to be honest neither is my favourite place to stay. places like sanur, seminyak or legian have more restaurants and shops. sanur is a nice beach front village. lots of shops and restaurants here quieter than say seminyak which has some trendy shops and restaurants and the beach here is where you see some great sunsets and there are surfing waves. sanur beaches are like nusa dua calm and best at high tide.

Both are great beach destinations - Nusa Dua is a purpose built luxury resort while Jimbaran has been developed more ad hoc.

The accommodation you choose is really important in the overall quality of the stay - Both locations offer a wide variety of choices - from 5 star luxury to backpacker hostels.

The most famous hotels at Jimbaran are 4 Seasons, Intercontinental, ex-Ritz Carlton and lots of villas. The 4 Seasons put Jimbaran on the map. The ex Ritz Carlton is the largest resort on Bali.

Nusa Dua has the Grand Hyatt, Amanusa, St. Regis, Conrad, many others. St Regis is newly opened on a stunning beach.

JImbaran has a more ';local'; feel as this is where the beach fish cafes are located (near the 4S) and the fish wet market further away at Kedonganan.

Bali Collection (shopping mall in Nusa Dua) has not shut down. There are restaurants, a craft market, small supermarket, lots of shops and a Starbucks.

Everyone,

Thanks for your suggestions.

So neither of the options worked out for us. Now we are contemplating Hyatt Bali on Senur Beach.

Any one been there?

Any clue how the location is?

proximity to local attractions, restaurants, shops etc?

Thoughts?

You might get a better response if you start a new topic about the Hyatt in Sanur, but if it%26#39;s any help, Snookystraveltips posted extensive information about the Hyatt a couple of days ago:

Hi,

Had a week at the Bali Hyatt (2A 3C) - Sanur in early March of this year, and were very impressed, and would like to return in the near future! You are situated right on the beach with a bike/walking track along the beach (you can hire bikes). There are restaurants either side of the Hyatt along the beach, or behind the resort on the main street. You would be about 20 minutes from Kuta, 30 mintes from Ubud, so quite well situated. Sanur is much quieter than Kuta (where we spent the other week of our vacation), has a much more traditional Balinese feel, and has water sports in front of the resort. We took the kids out to the coral reef(in front of the Hyatt for 250,000Rp) in a glass bottom boat, there was scuba diving, banana boat, snorkling etc. Have a great holiday.

hi GS the bali hyatt is a great hotel and sanur is a good place to stay. plenty of restaurants and shops and a very relaxing place. you can%26#39;t go wrong with this hotel. noodleboy has given you a link to one of my postings. i have stayed at the bali hyatt numerous times and will return.

All these positive comments on Bali Hyatt do make my choice really easy.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Will be back with my experience!

Thanks,

GS
