Has anyone stayed at or had any dealings with Albia Villa or Mia Villa in Seminyak/Umalah ? I would really appreciate any feedback or information. Thanks.
Albia Villa
Just got back and wanted to post a bit of info on these villas鈥lease excuse me if I get mushy. If I didn鈥檛 live so far away from Bali I wouldn鈥檛 rant and rave about this place 鈥?I鈥檇 keep it secret !
I picked Albia/Mia from hundreds of others advertised on the internet with no references or reviews for comfort. I must admit I was a bit worried. You never know who you are dealing with and when you are expected to prepay all or part of the cost, references, reviews and recommendations come in extremely handy. Well, there wasn鈥檛 a single day during our stay when I regretted having had my doubts. They are nothing like those private villas that feel like someone鈥檚 ill-kept holiday home rented out for a bit of extra cash and that doesn鈥檛 live up to its promises. These villas feel and are run like private mini hotels !!!
We initially booked the Albia but when we got there we decided to take the Mia Villa mainly because of its gardens and the size of its pool. The villas are next to each other and run by the same team. Albia is more minimalist with everything within easy reach 鈥?good for guests with young children. But for those who like pottering around at home and the uncontrollable plant life in the tropics Mia Villa is just fantastic ! All of the rooms have totally outdoor bathrooms meaning that if you want to shower at midnight you might have to liaise with some really tiny frogs (at the Albia only the showers are outdoor). The air conditioning and plumbing were in good working order. Laundry is inexpensive, Agung and Rosi鈥檚 cooking is both varied and brilliant, and the DVD library is well stocked. The area is very quiet and the security staff actively patrol the grounds and live on-site.
Although the design and decor is (in my opinion) nothing to write home about, the villas are done up tastefully and, most importantly, they are very very comfortable. Location wise, Umalas is very quiet and you鈥檒l need to get taxis or hire your own transport but the trade off is the beautiful and tranquil setting.
However, the highlight of the villas is the STAFF. I wish I could find the words to express half my gratification. They really account for 80% of the villa鈥檚 winning features. What an efficient and professional team! Nothing was ever a problem, and although there were so many of them ready to serve and please us they were never in your way and there wasn鈥檛 a single member of staff who was not polite and helpful. I wish they were my neighbors, colleagues, relatives !!! I hope no villa guest ever misuses their generosity and kind nature. So much emphasis is often placed on design and location but it鈥檚 really the people that make your holiday special.
Our stay was far too short but despite that this magic place did wonders to suppress my Blackberry addiction and all office/work memory and, although I was sad to leave, I felt that everything had been perfect and if I ever needed another dose of paradise I knew exactly where it was.

I am planning to stay 5 nights there in Nov2006 and like to countercheck with you what is the name of the owner proprietor of Mia Villa? do you have the villa address and contact number as these are not available from the website? how did the pick-up rendervous with you on arrival Denpasar airport?
how do you pay to book %26amp; secure the villa stay? is it by 50% payment transfer to a personal account in Singapore?

Hi Ask
Everything is totally kosher - I had exactly the same concern. The place is owned by a turkish-italian couple who work and live in Singapore. I was expected to transfer 50% to his personal account upon confirmation and the remainder before I got there. Apart from that, everything else is run like a 5-star enterprise. I also know of another forumite (not tripadvisor) who%26#39;ll be there for the 2nd fortnight of November. I don%26#39;t really want to post people%26#39;s names or other details on a forum but I would be more than pleased to email you and give you any other info I can.
Have a brilliant time and say hello to everyone there for us (Kartika %26amp; Manolo, Madrid).
my email is qqsk@cyberway.com.sg...I did see the name of the Mia Villa contact you gave in your earlier entry in June when you were then still uncertain about the arrangements (the same name as I am talking to currently) though that name is different from the account name on the payment instructions..thanks for sharing your experience....
did u also rent a MPV and driver from Mia Villa or from other operators?
brgds

Have a brilliant time Jeff. it%26#39;s hard to not to love Mia VIlla and their staff. Yes you will need a car although we enjoyed the place so much that our driver spent more time waiting around than driving. They can organize transport once you%26#39;re there or even before you get there. Oh what horrible envy, if I lived closer I%26#39;d go to Bali as often as money permits!
We too, booked from the internet and are staying in Mia Villa next year with several small children. Apart from the unfenced pool is their anything else we should be wary of. Were there many mosquitos (malaria) and were you picked up at the airport??
The person we are dealing with seems very nice and accommodating. It feels like it will be a wonderful holiday.
Is there anything else you could really recommend? Besides relaxing by the pool all holiday!!
Many Thanks
Christie
There are lots of things to do in Bali but I couldn%26#39;t tell you what there is within walking distance of the villa. The riding club is literally on your doorstep so if you horse ride lucky you!!
We stayed in Albia Villa at the start of January this year. We loved the layout %26amp; privacy of the complex %26amp; used the driver they recommended. The whole stay was first class %26amp; the staf were brilliant%26gt; i would definitely stay there again if I return to Bali
