We will be in Bali for 6 days in May for our honeymoon. I%26#39;m tempted by the St. Regis or Amankila for the luxury but my fiance would like to be close to great diving/snorkeling and more culture. The hotels on the NW side of Bali just don%26#39;t seem that nice??
We were originally going to Amanwana after Bali but we don%26#39;t think there is enough time for everything.
Any advice on where to stay? We are thinking about 3 nights in Ubud and 3 nights somewhere beachy??
Thanks!!

You could look at the Puri Ganesha in Pemuteran, you can get your beach time and diving/snorkelling in there. And it%26#39;s certainly luxurious.
Your other options for snorkelling would be Candi Dasa (no beach though) or around Amed. There are some nice hotels in this area although I%26#39;m not sure how luxurious the luxury has to be.
Three nights in Ubud and 3 nights in one of these places would be a nice mix.

Amankila is not far from good snorkeling and great dive spots like Tulamben where you can dive on a wreck in relatively shallow water. He can also drift dive in Nusa Penida off the east coast. There is much more culture to be experienced in the East than there is in the NW.
On the downside, the beaches near Amankila aren%26#39;t great but the resort IMO makes up for it. There is not a big choice close by for restaurants but for 3 nights that%26#39;s not a deal breaker. Go.
