hi all.
ive finally booked our 3 week holiday to bali in september.
we are flying with singapore airlines, on the way there we have to stop over for 10 hours in singapore and on the way back we have a 7 hour stop over before heading back to manchester.
does anybody know if we have to stay in the airport or can we go out and actually see singapore?
also we had a bit of trouble actually booking the flights in the first place. every plane was packed out apparently and we was lucky to get a flight from manchester.
i was just thinking if all the planes are filled to the brim so will bali.
do you think we will have problems finding a place to stay once we arrive in bali. dont want to end up sleeping on a beach when we arrive.
we will probably book the first night through the net but after that we wanted to have a look around and find our own place.
any advice would be great.
thank you
bali booked!!! need help
Hi Space123,
The reason you struggled with flights from mcr is SIA have reduced ther 5 weekly flights down to 3, at Singapore Airport they have free city tours for transit passengers about 2hrs long, you have to stay on the coach though, you can book these trips on arrival at Singapore, have a look at there website.
There is also a swimming pool on top of the Transit Hotel in terminal 1 which costs about 7.00 each including a soft drink and a towel, the hotel costs 35.00 for a 6 hour stay which includes use of the pool and bar (smoking area also) if required.
The terminals are about 2 minutes apart via the transit rail link so dont worry about getting around the airport.
The hotel availability issue i cant help you with, but somebody certainly will.
Have a great time.

bali booked!!! need help
Sanur is a great place to stay. We are going in 3 weeks time and also staying 1 night up in Ubud '; a must';. Visited Bali 3 yrs ago and did a trip around the island with our driver Dean ';another must';. we preferred Sanur as its not so busy as Kuta, where all the young surf and more authentic than Nusa Dua. Its just great to have a look at all the resorts and then decide on where you would like to stay for a good few days. Hope you find somewhere, Im sure you will love it, we do. Tina
do you think it will be easy finding accommodation once we arrive in bali?
we also want to pop over to gili trawangan. how much in advance do you think we will need to book a place to stay as i know it does get pretty busy on that island.
I would suggest booking hotels before you go. September is a busy time. Maybe you could prebook a few nights somewhere so you have accomodation when you arrive and then wing it from then on.
I would also suggest booking hotels before you go as September is peak time. I am also going in September and have had trouble getting into the hotels of my choice. If you plan on going to more isolated areas, then you probably won%26#39;t have to book, but if you are staying on the coast or even Ubud I would book before you go.
there are free tours of singapore on offer while in transit. check the singapore airport site as there are a number of options to keep you entertained.
book the first two nights at least in bali.
you will need to decide whether you are staying in the south and using it as a base to see the rest of bali or if you are going to stay at other places around the island.
if the latter, i would advise 3-4 nights at a different location to rest, enjoy and sightsee the area. e.g. padangbai - amed - ubud - etc.
we intend on staying in kuta for the first few nights.
do you think we will be ok if like you said we book the first few nights then look around when we arrive?
we are not to bothered about vert nice hotels. as long as they are clean have a/c and maybe not to dated that would be fine for us. not to bothered about a big complex.
sorry,
also we visited thailand last year and was staying in pretty nice accommodation for about 拢15 a night. that included t.v, a/c, hot water , mini fridge etc.
do you think we could get the same in bali?
silly me i book the holiday then all the worries hit me lol.
i think booking and looking would be fine. i%26#39;ve done that at legian/kuta and have had no problems. it was good to look around and see what there was on offer. the only time i had any problems was during july as many places were booked so i had to look a bit more.
15 pounds is about 250 000 rups so you should be able to find what you want for that price. all prices are negotiable so bargain.
usually, i tend to go as high as 400 000 rups for a room to get all the things i like eg air con, pool, etc.
brilliant.
thanks guys youve been a great help.
just hope our great british pound is still worth something when we get there.
not getting as much for our money nowadays.
