Which agent?

Hello

I am looking for accommodation in Sanur and now at the stage where I need to make a decision and book9for early June). As I have not used an on-line travel agent for international bookings before just wondering who everyone has used to book their hotels.I have checked Expedia and Asiarooms(who seem cheaper-but have read some bad reports). These appear to be better priced than booking direct with the property. Also I wish to pay inclusive of all taxes etc. and in %26#39;Aussie%26#39; dollars.

Thanks for any assistance.....Joy

most hotels charge in US$. this then gets converted to aussie$%26#39;s on your credit card by your bank. then there is an international transaction fee. do try and e mail hotels directly as often they have prices different from those advertised and also they are often willing to match the booking agents. sometimes they will throw in an %26#39;extra%26#39; and by booking direct you can often guarantee a certain room etc where as the on line agents can usually only %26#39;request%26#39; things like this. some booking sites require full payment up front so check the terms and conditions. i have used asiarooms and had no problems but do most of my bookings direct. this often requires your credit card details (which i send in 3 different e mails). they often will not charge a deposit but rather keep your details on file in case of a %26#39;no show%26#39; where they will then charge for something like 1 nights accommodation. also look at agoda, direct rooms, wotif, last minute.com, hotel club, holiday city.

do look for some of the hotels that charge in rupiah and you pay when you get there. i often like these places as paying in rupiah when you get there means no converting from US$ at %26#39;their%26#39; conversion rate and no extra charges on your credit card.

for example sanur beach villas charge in rupiah.

I have used Asiarooms a few times, no problems. They charge in AUD you just click the currency you wish to see the room amount.

The only thing is you pay up front and they want your credit details just to get a booking, half the time the advertised rate is gone and you need to go to next level of room eg superior to deluxe. Which isn%26#39;t that bad as you usually get the better room for regular price.

Used them for bookings in Thaialand.

Hi Joy, I use www.balidreamtours.com they let you pay in AU$ Direct into there account or by credit card.

Regards

I%26#39;ve used Asiarooms, Agoda, Bali Discovery, and have also booked direct with hotels.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies and your valuable tips.I have now e-mailed several properties and awaiting their reply-will be interesting to check the comparison.

Also one of the properties we were interested in was Sativa Sanur cottages.I believe it is near the Puri Santrian-is this correct as I can%26#39;t seem to locate it on any maps.Is it a good hotel-seems to get fine reviews but I cannot make up my mind!!

Last two times we stayed at Paradise Plaza Hotel(very nice) but thought we might try closer to town.

Any assistance greatly appreciated....Joy

Sativa Sanur is shown on this map, its just above Puri Santrian.
