Ladies Backpackers looking for Budget Accomodation

Hello,

first of all, there will be 6 of you and your budget is Rp300k/night (for how many person?).

Is it

(A) Rp300k/night/person

(B) Rp300k/night/room (1 room is 2 person)

(C) Rp300k/night/room (1 room fits all of you)

I don%26#39;t think you mean with option (A), do you?

So, let%26#39;s skip it.

For option (B), it really quite hard to find. Here%26#39;s some selection I could get for you:

1. Hotel Formule 1 Menteng www.accorhotels.com (online booking possible); triple room Rp380,000/night; double room Rp325,000/night

2. Hotel Sofyan Betawi www.sofyanhotel.com (book through email/phone); double room Rp367,000/night.

Other budget hotel in the area requires you to call them or walk-in check-in (or you buy hotel voucher at airport counter) as they don%26#39;t have online booking. In the area there%26#39;s Treva International Hotel, Rota International Hotel aside from those backpackers inn along Jalan Jaksa.

You can also book through hostel booking website on the net (such as hostels.com or hostelworld.com), but the price shown is per person per night (and I can%26#39;t find anything in the area you wish to stay, but you might give it a try).

For option (C), I don%26#39;t have anything in store for you.

Jalan Jaksa is not that bad. It used to be a backpacker%26#39;s place (as so does until now), but the guest are more various than last time (last time mostly are Caucasians, but now some Africans can also be seen. I don%26#39;t mean to be offended, but Africans are sometimes causing trouble by selling cracks). So, it%26#39;s always a good precaution to raise your self awareness while staying in the area.

P.S. Where are you from? From your location, you state PG (is it Papua New Guinea?) I still do think you need to raise a bit on your budget to sleep comfortably in Jakarta (especially if you want to stay somewhere central).

Hi Cirque

Thanks for the express reply.

Actually our budget is Rp300k/room(twin sharing)/nite.Maybe if possible to increase lil bit to Rp350k.I%26#39;ll choose ur Option B and i will try to find through the web u give me.

By the way we have to limit our budget for accomodation because we are not only visiting Jakarta,we also will be going to Bandung, Jogya, Bali %26amp; Medan as well...We spent 10days in Indonesia %26amp; hopefully we have enough time to explore your country.

Anyway i%26#39;m from Penang, Malaysia.

Thanks again for ur info.

Hi BuzuEdiany,

You only have 10 days and you want to see Jakarta, Bandung, Yogjakarta, Bali and Medan.

I will be really interested to know HOW you think you can visit all of these places in such a small amount of time.

You will need a long holiday after such a whirlwind trip.

I feel tired just thinking about it.

Pamela who loves Indonesia.

Hi Guys

So sad to informed that i%26#39;ve to shorten my travel period coz my boss did%26#39;nt allowed me to take leave for a long period due to lack of staff @ my office.... ;(

From 10days become 6days...What to do...i have to re-schedule everything especially have to put an extra money for change the flight date %26amp; it cost about double on what i pay before...So as cnclusion, just go for Jakarta %26amp; Bandung then i have to fly back to Malaysia %26amp; my frens will continue their journey to Jogyakarta...

Anyway guys still need your point of view for a certain things:-

1) Between Ibis Kemayoran, Hotel Kalisma %26amp; Hotel Alma which 1 consider easy access in terms of transportation, resto %26amp; shopping area especially in Tanah Abang?

2) I only have 1 day to enjoy in Jakarta but i want to go for sight seing and shopping too.Any suggestion where should i start 1st?

Thanks again guys for your contribution of ideas %26amp; time!!!

Regards

-Buzuediany-

Hello,

1. In terms of location, Ibis Kemayoran is definitely off the chart! So, hotel Kalisma and Alma is the option to be near to Tanah Abang. Both hotels belong to the same company, and I couldn%26#39;t comment much about them. So just pick one that you think more suitable to you as really, both are located on the same stretch of road. You can take public van (angkutan kota) number M11 and it will take you straight to Tanah Abang building.

2. Well, you can just do short city tour visiting National Monument and National Museum, shop at Tanah Abang, visit prestigious Grand Indonesia and Plaza Indonesia, and stroll along busy Jalan Sabang (various shops, cafes, eateries especially at night) and shop for souvenirs at Sarinah. All are just nearby to each other and it%26#39;s just a bit of Jakarta city center tour. For location, you can check on Jakarta map.

Hi

Anyway thanks cirque. i also try the search review/comment about this hotel but nothing was found or maybe i can post another forum regarding Kalisma/Alma hotel to get more info.

to be frank, I will go to Formule 1 as suggested by cirque before. Kalisma and Alma is a very standard local hotel (hostel?). The neighborhood is not too appealing at night and security wise can be a major consideration. Even though formule 1 is a bit off from Tn Abang area, but for the price you can%26#39;t go wrong. Ample food options and at least it is an accor hotel.

Of course if you ready to spend a a bit more, Ibis Tamarin/Arcadia is a much much better option

Thanks Verdims for ur opinion.I will search more info bout it.

jalan jaksa is the best place to find a budget hotel or home stay.

you can check on bloomsteen home stay or djody hotel.borneo hotel or tator hotel

price of a budget hotel in jalan jaksa its start from IDR.45k/night - IDR.75k/night
