trip from Yogya to Borobudur and Prambanan - 1 day

Hello :)

I am just looking for good travel agency or just driver who can organize for us noty very expensive 1 day trip to visit Borobudur and Prambanan places.

We want to start in the morning from our hotel in Jogyakarta then during one day visit both places and finally be on the airport in Yogjakarta about 7 pm.

I know that it is quite common trip, but right now I have only one offer from one of travel agencies with cost 45 USD per person with lunch included.

Do you have any advice where I can organize that and is it possible to organize that a bit cheaper ?

Thanks a lot.

Please answer here or send me info on my mailbox here on TripAdvisor.

trip from Yogya to Borobudur and Prambanan - 1 day

Hi Adam,

$45ppax seems to be a rip-off, unless it also includes the entry tickets which are $10 in Prambanan and $11 in Borobudur. BTW, how many of you are there?

You can either contact one of the travel agencies recommended here in advance (Borobudur Tour And Travel is one of the names AFAIR) or just look for yourself. It seems to me that email inquiries result in much higher quotations than you can get in reality... However, you can ask them just for a car+driver rental which should be reasonable, and you know where you want to go... If you opt to leave looking for a tour until you%26#39;re in Jogja, there are plenty of operators in the Prawirotaman area (lots of budget hotels there as well) and they are open until about 10-11pm, so you can sign up for a trip with them. They have published prices which are quite well below 100,000Rp./pax for Borodbudur and Prambanan each (separately), the only condition is that there are minimum 2 people and you also cover all the entry/parking fees. I have already disposed of their information/pricing leaflets, but I think I%26#39;ve seen one or two tours including both the temples in one day - and I%26#39;m sure you can also ';negotiate'; the route and timing.

Whichever option you choose, I%26#39;m sure if you talk to them you will be able to make it easily in one day with your time constraints. I suggest you opt for a 4:30-5:00am departure which will get you to Borobudur bang at 6am (you have to pay extra 269,000Rp. to enter 15 minutes earlier for the sunrise... up to you , let me tell you that the lighting conditions and valley mists perfect for photographs are still very good up until about 7:00)), when it still isn%26#39;t too crowded. You will want to spend there about 2 hours after which it may get very crowded (school trips in my case). Then you can probably head off straight to Prambanan which shouldn%26#39;t take more than a 2-hour drive. You will spend another quite a few hours there (the park is more than just the Prambanan temple + there%26#39;s an interesting Buddhist temple nearby called Plaosan). Then I suggest you have a late lunch in the restaurant right next to the Ramanayna theatre with a beautiful view of Prambanan... And you%26#39;re ready to go back to the airport, unless you want to visit Jogja (not as interesting to my likings).

With my experience (mixed I would say... but I was there on my own, so it%26#39;s more difficult) and given that you are there for one day only, I would try to find a company with GOOD cars (there are plenty pretty old and damaged MPVs to be seen in Jogja) and drivers and just rent one for a full day. I guess it should not cost you more than 500,000Rp.(~55USD) for a good quality service, and you will then share the cost between yourselves. The recommended agencies would probably be able to offer you something reasonable via email. If not, look for the cheap tours in Jogja, as the bundled package prices provided by email seem to be way too high.

I hope this helps a little, and maybe someone will want to add their experiences to that.

Anyway, enjoy the temples - they are magnificent!

Jeszcze raz pozdrawiam ;)

PS. Any chance of meeting you in Bali between 5th and 18th July?

trip from Yogya to Borobudur and Prambanan - 1 day

Hi

Yes, much cheaper.

For Rp350,000, Borobudur Tour and Travel will provide a car and driver for 8 hours with fuel included. If you would also like a guide for the day the charge is Rp 150,000. They are located in the village of Borobudur and are very honest, helpful and friendly. I have used one of their drivers and give them my best recommendation.

Email Renni at info@orobudurtourandtravel.com for advice and a quote.

Hi, I received an offer from Borobudur Travel , and it is 700 000 indonesian rupiah per person ... :(

it looks quite expansive if we compare with your information.

Does anyone know any other agency ?

Adam

Hi all

i am also heading down this way from Jakarta.

I am having a bit of trouble trying to get tickets on Garuda to Yogya-they don%26#39;t seem to sell them on line.

I might have to fly to solo with air asia and then onto Yogya.

I a SWF (travelling by myself) and would probably be looking at joining tours to both Borbudur and Prambanan mainly to keep the costs down and it%26#39;s nice to share these things with others.

I would like to visit them on seperate days though.

I was thinking of visiting each in the afternoon-any thoughts?

Anu advice on any of the above would be greatly appreciated.

Oh by the way has anyone noticed any wig shops in the Yogya /solo areas?

Hi Adam

The price I mentioned was a recent price for a car and driver for 8 hours (additional cost for more hours). There may be a small increase if fuel prices have increased recently but that price must include other things.

Does that price include entrance fees to Borobudur and Prambanan ? The entrance fees alone for Prambanan and Borobudur (after 6:00AM) are a total of Rp200,000 per person.

Are guide services and lunch included also ? How about parking charges at the temples ?

You can probably find a bus tour from Yogya for less money. Of course you will need to pay for the taxis to the bus and then to the airport and leave your baggage at your hotel. You will loose the flexibility to travel on your own schedule but our budget always decides these things for us.

You could save a lot of money if you visited these temples on separate days and traveled by local buses if you have the extra time.

Good luck

Hi Adam,

I got an even more ridiciulous quote from Borobudur Tour%26amp;Travel. However, after I replied to them that this was definitely too much, they suggested the daily car rental with a driver for the prices given by a few posters above.

Ask just for the rental and you should get a similar quote.

Good luck and enjoy!

Hi B%26amp;L :)

how are you ? :)

thanks for your support.

I tried with Rebecca Tours and their price is about 40 - 50 usd /person, so it seems to be quite fair :), when entrance fees are included and lunch is included :)

where do you plan to be in Bali ?

Pozdrawiam

Adam

Hi Adam,

Yes, that makes more sense, as the entry fees alone are 21$/pax.

However, with my experience and having seen many MPVs in very bad condition around Jogja, I would now probably try to look for a GOOD car and driver rental rather than buy any tour packages. After all, you know what you want to see and the driver may give you some hints on interesting stopovers as well. This also makes more sense for you as you are not alone, so the daily rental cost can be split between the X of you (even if X=2, it still means you don%26#39;t pay 2x{offered price} for a tour).

But it%26#39;s obviously up to you, and you should probably average-out the suggestions given by many people here :)

Re Bali, we%26#39;re planning to stay in Ubud for the first 5-7 days (roughly) and then we want to move to the north east of the island which is much more peaceful and a good basis for exploring the eastern parts. Then probably 1 or nights closer to the airport to finish our holidays. So... any chance to meet you there?

You just log on:www.jogjarentcar.com for more information, they can handle it your budget.Price from IDR350.000/day(Icl:Driver speak english most like guide tour and car+Driver).
