What about Garuda?

I highly recommend Madala for their performance and extreme dedication to safety. Cheap too.

Hints - ask for exit row seat, for extra leg room. Don%26#39;t sit in the row before the exit row, the seats do not recline.

From Jakarta, get any F%26amp;B before passing through security. There is no place to get anything to eat or drink after that.

Thankyou for your replies. Garuda came in at around $450 return each Winnie, but Madala prices are looking pretty good, a lot cheaper actually. Had never heard of this airline before so thanks for the recomendation yumanote. We cannot change our return flight from Bali to Jakarta, so have to do a quick 2 night trip to Jakarta and then back to Bali for our flight home. Any savings are a blessing. Thanks again, Sue

Have you tried Air Asia, I used them last Christmas for Bali/Jakarta flights.

I took Air Asia roundtrip Jakarta-Bali since it was the least expensive and allowed me to book and pay online.

But note that they have a 15kg weight limit on checked luggage and there is a charge for each KG above 15kg.

And you may want to pay the nominal fee for priorty boarding since it can be a mad rush for seatings on general boarding.

There are more airlines, e.g. Lion, Merpati etc. Garuda is always more booking outside of country. A return Garuda is less than 2,000,000rupiah return from a local agent in Bali. No problem getting tickets outside of holidays. Recommend you plan arrival and departure times well to avoid the worst of Jakarta traffic. Your son should be able to sort this all out.

Thankyou all for your help,

Unfortunately we have had to cancel our Jakarta plans as our son arrives Jakarta 16th April, and will be heading straight out to motocross events for the whole weekend, so we will miss him in Jakarta, we had already extended our bali stay for flight home too: what a bummer :)

Guess we will have to find somewhere to stay for 2 nights. As it was our son%26#39;s first time to Jakarta( he%26#39;s all new to this and just turned 18) also we just wanted to get him settled in, he%26#39;s there for 2 months. We will be going to see him at a later date, hopefully via Bali for a day or two.

But now we know which airlines to use for our eventual trip to Jakarta. Thanks again, Sue
