currency

Hi Coming to bali for 6 days in april. Can somebody please tell me which currency to use in bali

Thanks

Indonesian Rupiah is the currency used in Bali. You can buy it here in the UK, but you%26#39;ll be robbed on the exchange rate, so best to buy when you%26#39;re in Bali.

In Bali, it%26#39;s easy enough to exchange pounds sterling, or sterling travellers cheques, you get a better rate for the former. ATMs are all over the island so it%26#39;s also easy to use these to withdraw cash.

Note when you are changing money, always count the money when you%26#39;re there, and double check it. Some of the money changers can be very creative in their counting, and use sleight of hand techniques that would put David Blaine to shame.

Personally, I take 25USD for the visa on arrival too.

Take a look at the oanda website. You can print out a pocket currency convertor sheet, referred to as a cheat sheet on the site...I always take one %26amp; use it all the time I%26#39;m there.

You%26#39;ll find plenty of posts here about money changers.

Personally I prefer to use the local banks or Kodak shop money changers and stay clear of anyone who offers rates way above anyone else. Some hotel exchange rates are pretty good when you work out you are only gong to save a few pence by taking a long walk or taxi ride to a money changer.

I always walk from anyone who pulls out a wad of 20000 rupiah notes (worth about 1 pound 15 each to you). Odds on they%26#39;re out to rip you off.

All part of the fun.

This aside I am sure that you%26#39;ll have a great time.

Cheers

Peter
