Best Currency/travellers cheques to take

We are going to Bali in a couple of weeks. Have been before and took USD and US travellers Cheques. AS a UK citizen is it going to be better to take Sterling Travellers Cheques and say a small amount of USD. Staying in Sanur so it is not remote.

With all the currency turbulance and the Sterling depreciation against USD - what would everybody recommend?

Thanks for this

i never bother with travellers cheques as the exchange rate is lower and you need to carry your passport to exchange them.

take your own currency and exchange it in bali. you will get the best rates this way. i do like to take some US particularly for the VOA. there are also some ATM%26#39;s in sanur if you need to withdraw more cash. sanur is a great place to stay. if you are anywhere near Hardy%26#39;s store there is a very reliable money changer just across the road (can%26#39;t miss it). also ATM%26#39;s in the car park at hardys.

take pounds

take tc

take visa

take atm card

i take all, you never know if one of them will become lost, stolen or whatever.

Take USD for your Visa on Arrival only.

Otherwise, you get a better exchange rate for pounds sterling over sterling travellers cheques (not significant, but every penny counts). ATMs are widely available. I usually take a combination of the three; TCs are certainly worthwhile if your bank card is blocked for a fraud check, or the link between the Bali and UK banks is broken, then at least you can still get cash.

Hi

I agree just take your own currency easy to exchange just watch the money changers where the rates seem too good. Find one who you trust and keep going to the same one. I would take an atm card or credit card for just in case. I also never go out carrying too much money. I keep the most of my cash in the safe and just take what you need for each activity. I have never been pickpocketed but better to be safe.
