Questions on Ubud and Nusa Dua

Hello members,

Other than all must see places I have 1 day free while my stay at Kuta. So planning to explore Ubud and Nusa Dua in details.

1. Is Nusa dua strictly private beach or public can roam around those beaches? Seen some good chapels and beach shots in Nusa Dua. So wondering people who are not staying in Nusa Dua can%26#39;t visit those places in beach?

2. In Ubud what are things to see like traditional stuff or local life??

3. Do we need 1 complete day or half day for the above places if we book driver/guide? How much will they charge from Kuta?

Questions on Ubud and Nusa Dua

Depending on your interests it%26#39;s possible (probable) that you can spend more than a day exploring Ubud, alone.

There is monkey forest, the markets, all the shops and galleries etc and the dance performances in Ubud itself. There is also lots of villages surrounding Ubud who specialise in making the art and handicrafts. Each village has it%26#39;s own specialty.

Lunch is also an event in Ubud. There are countless great restaurants with amazing views to choose from.

And remember that the drive from Kuta to Ubud is about an hour and the drive from Ubud to Nusa Dua is about an hour and a half.

Questions on Ubud and Nusa Dua

We enjoyed the Botanical Gardens and Blanco Museum in Ubud. Gunung Kawi is a good temple to visit just outside.

There%26#39;s nothing to see at Nusa Dua - just 5 star hotels, but the beach is nice. I%26#39;d spend the whole day at Ubud and it%26#39;s surrounds.

Tegallalang is good for shopping and rice field viewing. The views from Kampung Cafe there are beautiful. In Ubud, Cahaya Dewata has wonderful views and Indus also - or if you want to go more upmarket the view over the Ayung River from the Four Seasons at Sayan is also very special.

I agree with the spending one day in Ubud and not doing both. Lots to see in Ubud and surroundings (temples to visit, museums, markets, rice fields, etc) and like someone above has said, the drive there is ';long'; as Bali is much bigger than Singapore.

I%26#39;m don%26#39;t know which chapel you%26#39;re talking about in Nusa Dua, but beach shots - well, depending on what you mean by that, you can take lots of photos of beaches in Smeinyak, Kuta, Legian, etc...

Drivers/guides charge the same price for one day regardless of location. Take your pick here:

Pls be aware that the page is a wiki, so once you have narrowed down on two or three drivers, you should come back to the forums and do a search on them to see what comments have been made; to ensure that they are reliable and have not just touted themselves on that page.

Thanks guys for ur inputs...but still confused with one thing...is Nusa dua only for guest staying in the hotels at Nusa dua or others can also visit Nusa Dua??

The resorts don%26#39;t actually own the beach, they do however maintain them in front of their hotels, so by rights they shouldn%26#39;t be able to stop anyone getting access to the beaches.

There is also a public beach a little further south than all the resorts that is very popular on the weekends with expats living in Bali.
