Is 3 night and 4 days good enough in Yogyakarta?

Hi,

I%26#39;m Malaysian and planning my trip to Jogya somewhere in August. There will be 5 of us. My flight will land in Yogya airport about 3.30pm. So i need a recommendation here, whether 3 nights is good enough to cover Jogya. Imagine, that on 1st day, i only land at 3.30pm, which means nothing much can be done, and on the forth day, my flight is about 4pm. I would like to cover, The volcano, Prambanan, Borobudur, The City, The sultan palaces, the beach and so on. So, can i do all this in 3 nights and 4 days. Pls let me know. Thanks.

Actually you really have about 2-1/2 days as you will only have the evening left after you arrive and about a half day on the day you depart. One more day would be best for what you have planned but for your current plans this is a possible itinerary:

On the first night you might have enough time to see the Ramanyana Ballet (if held on that night). On the second day, travel to the beach and visit the sites in Yogya. Third day visit Borobudur, Pawon and Mendut temples, tour area and drive near volcanoes. Spend morning of fourth day at Prambanan and then go to airport.

Hi IMGrateful,

Thanks for your reply. Well,I thought i will manage to get the 3 nights in Yogja, but unfortunately, i came to know yesterday that my friends are not able to make 3 nights. only able to make 3 days and 2 nights. I tried to plan like this with the limited time.

1st day will reach Yogja at 3.30pm. So, will make a trip to Prambanan temple straight from airport and in the late evening see the city. Then on the 2nd day, morning go to Borobudur and the temples around. After that will go to Volcanoes. Then will proceed to Sultan Palace and to the beach in the evening. Can you tell me what is great of the beach? Then after the beach will come again to the city to see night life. On the 3rd day before taking the flight, will do some shopping around maliboro street while seeing the streets and proceed to airport around 2pm. So, this is all my itenary, pls advise if this is OK and if i have missed out any important places. Thanks.

Hopefully you will get a better response from someone with more knowledge.

Better check at what time the entrance to Prambanan closes for the day. I think everyone must leave by 18:00 and that the entrance closes before that time. You will not have much time for your visit. Going there on the last day before the airport would allow you to see more.

Haven%26#39;t been to the beach so really do not know but I would suggest not going with the limited time you have this trip. I don%26#39;t remember reading that it was a top place to visit. Also, it is a half hour drive or more each way so you would not have much time there.

Hi

You can stay at Jogja 3 days for Sultan Palace,Prambanan,Borobudur and Dieng Plateau. Plus Ulensentalu Museum (Java art and culture museum). You can visit or contact www.adventuretrans.net for your tour partner. Not to expensive with them.

Have a good trip

i assume ur flying with Air Asia ? i had the same problem too...

will be flying to Solo later this 3/3...arrive morning at 0900 then will try get a cab to Jogja..the information i%26#39;ve gathered that i will reached Jogja 90mins later...depending on the traffic

have you book your tickets yet? the best option is to book one way to Solo...and then back to KUL by Jogja...that will maximise ur time in Jogja

Hi payrol,

Yes, i%26#39;m taking Airasia from Kuala Lumpur and already book the ticket. I%26#39;m not going to Solo. Thanks

Hi!

I think you should just stick to the temples (Borobudur and Prambanan), shopping and Kraton (palace) since your trip is quite short. I would suggest for you to stay at Jalan Malioboro itself (I stayed at hotel Ibis last time, quite OK) to save time.

The tour to Borobudur gonna take you at least half a day - entrance fee is Rp 100,000 per person for foreigner. To go around Jogja (Kraton, crafts, batik, etc), you could try to take a horse cart - fare is around Rp 30,000 to Rp 40,000 per cart, it could seat 4 adults. Shopping at Jalan Malioboro is similar to Jalan Tuanku Abd. Rahman, so you might spend a lot of time there.

If you want to have dinner at the lesehan (gerai tepi jalan, duduk atas lantai) in Jalan Malioboro, choose the stall that displays the price of items to avoid being ripped-off. Nasi Gudeg (nangka muda masak lemak) is quite popular here.

Regards,

Hi Binana,

Thank for you reply, i will try to follow them as time is very limited to me.

yes..i know that Solo is not in your itinerary...but what i meant was that if you plan to maximise your time in Jogja from day one..,might as well take the early morning flight from LCCT (Air Asia) to Solo and then get the cab for 60-90mins ride to Jogja...you%26#39;ll arrive at Jogja sround 1100 ..which is much better than wasting time waiting for the afternoon flight ( which is the only AK%26#39;s flight) to Jogja..

since you%26#39;ve book the tickets already..so i guess my tips is useless then...

Hello suria4u2,

It a leasure to share information of visiting Jogja.

According my experience, 4days 3nights is very enough time to visit such places,

Fisrtly disccuss the itenary to the driver(his mobile 08179434753). He explains to explore like this:

* 1st day Pick up at the airport, Check in and procced to see Prambanan Sunset(when clear sky) or Plaosan temple and Sambisari for alternative.

*2nd day Visit volcano (lava tour) at Kali adem around one hour, then continue driving to Borobudur temple, Pawon, and Mendut. It around 3 hours. then going to King Palace and Tamansari water castle and Tembok Cemethi about 1 up to 2 hours. Back to hotel for rest.

3th day Visit Beachs; Pantai Kukuh , Pantai Krakal, and Pantai Baron (for Fress Sea Food). They have very beautiful landscape .
